Title: Interview with Mayor Petelos
Post by BluffParkWriter on 03/04/11 at 1:10pm

Hoover Mayor Tony Petelos was interviewed on the Matt Murphy Show (100 WAPI).
He had some interesting comments and also talked about Bluff Park and septic tanks, recycling in Hoover, Lorna Rd/ illegals problem etc. The interview was like a State of the City Address if you will....

The interview is now on the WAPI Podcast section

*I am not sure how long it will stay there

I missed the part about septic tanks.  Can someone tell me what he said?

I listened to it online...it was something to the effect that a lot of people on the mountain here had them, had to pay for their own upkeep on them, couldn't be easily hooked up to the sewer even if they wanted...wasn't fair to charge them a 'non-user' sewer fee.  At least that's what I got out of it.

Thank you JBH.  I have septic tank and I wanted to know whether that "non-user"
fee had been brought up again.  I certainly don't want to pay a non-user fee...
that's nonsense

Could you talk about the other subjects as well?  I can't get the video to come up on my computer.

I will try to post a transcript.

One thing that I liked that he said came from a callers question about recycling glass in Hoover.

The caller asked if with the new contract with the company that does our recycling would it include glass, as it does not right now.

his answer:
The company does not have the equipment to do glass. They were looking at a grant to get glass crushing equipment to have a city drop off site for glass only and then the crushed glass would be used by the city. THis was just an idea they were looking at. It did not sound like the grant had been sent in yet.

I could not get it to play on one computer and I clicked the "download" button and it worked so try that too. It does not download to your computer I think it downloads to the player (I think).
