Hoover is getting a grain-free bakery.
Bluff Park native Elizabeth Wood is bringing her Paleo and gluten-free conducive baked goods to 759 Shades Mountain Plaza in Consider It Joy Baking.
The 1,200-square-foot location will replace Ashley Mac's, which will move out at the end of the year.
Wood said she is hoping to be open by mid January 2015.
Lochrane Smith, with Red Rock Realty Group, negotiated the lease on behalf of the landlord and Consider it Joy Baking.
Wood began baking grain-free foods when she, her husband and two boys went on the diet for health reasons two years ago.
“I thought it was the worst thing that ever happened to me,” Wood said. “I thought my life was ruined.”
Wood has since embraced the diet, and her passion for baking grain-free goodies led her to want to branch out into a business.
