Possible Kidnap Attempt in Highland Crest
12/20/14 at 10:50am

Everyone, please read and share with your family.  This happened yesterday in Highland Crest area.

Caution kids after possible kidnap attempt

On December 19th at 1:00 p.m. officers responded to a possible kidnap attempt in the Highland Crest neighborhood. A 12 year old girl who was riding her bike was stopped in the area of Woodbine Lane and Highland Crest Parkway. A younger Hispanic male driving an older black car pulled up beside her and made a random comment about her family winning something. The girl felt uneasy and started to run. The suspect grabbed her wrist, at which time the girl kicked the suspect and broke free. The suspect returned to his car and left the area, driving toward Al Seier Road.

The girl immediately went home and told her parents. The suspect is described as possibly in his 20's, slender build, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and muddy boots. His hands were also described as very dirty. He spoke good English with a heavy accent. The suspect vehicle is described as an older black car, unknown if 2 or 4 door (car not SUV), lots of scratches and "kind of beat up looking".
Residents are urged to be on the lookout for this vehicle and to call 911 if they see any suspicious activity.

Kids should always be cautioned to be aware of their surroundings and to simply run if approached by a stranger. Anyone with information about this suspect or vehicle should call Detective Chad Godsey at 205-739-6125.
