As I was driving home yesterday, I noticed this commercial guard rail on Shades Crest Road, close to Chapel intersection.  This rail is terrible!  Is the City trying to depreciate the value of our community?  First, to my knowledge, there has not been any cars, bikers or people "fall off" the cliff in recent history (at least not on purpose).  Secondly, even if you are going to put this safety rail up, why wouldn't the city put a more aesthetically appealing rail up?  In State and National Parks, as well as in the Mountain Brook area, they put of wood timbers instead of the unsightly metal rail.
 
I urge you to call the Mayor's office, Call Tim Westhooven, 205-444-7762 and also call the city counsel.  It is my understanding that they have more to put up and it may be as soon as this Monday.
