I just wanted to say that I am thankful for the many good people we have in our neighborhood community. Our 2 dogs have lately become masters at unlocking our gate and escaping despite our best efforts to stop them, and this happened again yesterday morning. As soon as we realized what had happened, my husband and I ran outside to try to find them, and we were met by a nice couple who had stopped their car in front of our house. They said they had seen our dogs running towards the Piggly Wiggly and went home to get leashes and had been circling the neighborhood to try to help find them. Our dogs eventually wandered into someone's yard more than 2 miles away from our house (!) and the nice folks called us, but we searched for them for probably 45 minutes, and the couple in the car continued to drive around and search the entire time. It was so generous of them to spend their time trying to find our dogs when they didn't even know us, and I'm so grateful to them!
It is a comfort to know that there are great neighbors out there that will look after each other. Each time our master Houdinis have gotten out, a good samaritan has called us and held onto them (even overnight one time!) until we could come pick them up. Needless to say, we are beefing up our efforts to keep our fence locked!
