Reporting Attempted Am Theft (2 wks ago) on Rock
07/17/09 at 10:32pm

Hey Y'all,
We called one of our neighbors who live on our street
today, to catch up and see what's new with them.

They told us several wks. ago they had an attempted daytime robbery at their
house when they were not home.

I believe this might have coincided with the other robberies on Albermarle during that time frame.

The thieves were not able to break in due to some steel reinforced doors, and
they said the would be robbers had tried to use a crow bar.

Hope this all makes sense, I didn't talk to them; someone else in our family did.
I'm relaying this just like I heard it said to me.

We are all so glad that this was a foiled attempt!

I am so grateful for this group and for good neighbors who are looking out for
each other.

Thank you to whoever started this group!

Thanks for the post, friendofbp!

I hope there person who's house was hit called Hoover PD to let them know.  If not, it's not too late.

Regarding Bamafan's comment, they are right in their correction, but it's a very common mistake that people make.

A "robbery" is when a person uses force (even if just perceived by the victim) on another person in order to obtain something of value.  A burglary is when a person(s) enters a dwelling (even a car) without permission in order to obtain something of value.  Burglaries are also known as B & E (Breaking and Entering).  These definitions are in their simplest forms and can obviously be expounded from there.

Thanks y'all for catching my mistake.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to correcting this--
I changed the word robbery to theft in my title.
Sorry for using the wrong word and hope it did not
cause any alarm.
