We were sent an e-mail regarding a public hearing:
 
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
1:00 p.m.. Thursday. May 12. 2011
 
Notice is hereby given to the applicant and to all property owners within 500 feet of the subject property that a public hearing on the requested change in zoning described below will be held by the Planning & Zoning Commission of Jefferson County in Room 270 Courthouse, Birmingham. Alabama.
 
Z-2011-010 Charles J. and Carol A. Pilleteri, owners. Change of zoning on Parcel IO# 29-34*3*10 in Section 34 Twp 18 Range 3 West from R-1 (Single Family) to 01 (Commercial) for compliance of an existing parking lot used in conjunction with an established shopping center (Case Only: 820 Fancter Drive; Birmingham, AL 35226) (BLUFF PARK) (0.3 Acres M/L)
 
Applicants and/or their representatives should attend this hearing to present any drawings, sketches, models, plans, etc.. and answer questions from the Planning & Zoning Commission. Applicants will be allotted a total time of fifteen (IS) minutes to explain the intended use of the property, including the initial presentation, rebuttal, and any lime used by other people speaking in support of the proposed change.
 
Persons wishing to speak in opposition to the proposed change will also be allotted a total time of fifteen (15) minutes. It is recommended that groups of five or more have a designated spokesperson to present their objections or concerns. Concerned parties may protest this requested change in zoning at the hearing, or may send written,statements, petitions or other documents to Frank H. (lumber. prior to the hearing date, at the return address on this notification. Please include the Case Number on all such correspondence. Any questions regarding this rezoning may also be directed to Land Development staff by phone (205) 325*5638 or by fax (205) 325-5224.

A couple of notes regarding this:  
 
1.  Mr. Ps is not in the city limits of Hoover, therefore we do not usually report on it - we limit our information on Bluff Park topics.  Technically, Mr. Ps is not in Bluff Park.
 
We asked the sender of the e-mail why this was important enough to ask for a posting.  Their reply was that this zoning change would impact the community in that the Pilliteris could then add buildings to the lot which is currently a parking lot.  This would impact traffic and the sender of the e-mail felt it warranted at least posting it.  We tend to agree, regardless of it's location.
 
I anyone feels that this is not a good idea, we suggest you attend the public hearing.
