ADT Salesman???

My neighbor just told me a man in a red van or suv with big American flags on the doors stopped at his house yesterday and tried to sell him ADT home security services. The guy had a name tag and books about ADT security systems and wanted to go into the house for a survey and give him an estimate. The neighbor would not let him in house. The neighbor called ADT later and they told him they did not do door to door sales and that guy did not work for them.

Did he call us to report the incident? Did he obtain a tag number? This is an example of when we need to be contacted immediately.
ANYTIME you feel uncomfortable with a person or situation you should call us right away. Please have your friend contact me so I can
obtain additional information and relay it to all our police officers.

What area do you live in? On the way to dropping my daughter off at school I saw a sign someone had put in their yard saying that their house had been robbed on 9/23 and if anyone had any information to come forward (not sure how wise it was to put that sign out but whatever). It was on Chapel Rd right where it meets Shades Crest at the three way stop. Wonder if it's related.

I have finally made contact with our witness and we do want to make contact with the salesman to confirm whether or not he is legitimate. If you see someone matching the person description below, or the vehicle, please contact Hoover Police so that we can identify the person and confirm his legitimacy. If you can do so SAFELY, providing a tag number would be a great help.

Additional information:

Person description White male in his mid 50’s, 5’7” to 5’9”, 180 pounds, Gray hair with a mustache and goatee, wearing nice blue/gray slacks with a white short sleeve shirt. Well tanned, no tattoos, no glasses, seemed well educated and well spoken.

Vehicle description Older model Burgundy Mini Van, probably a Chevy or Pontiac, unknown tag with a large American flag sticker on the driver’s side (probably with magnetic backing).
