NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and encourage participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighbors are fighting back.
 
The Hoover Police Department and Target would like to invite you to participate in this year’s National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012.  This FREE event will be held at the Super Target located at the Grove Shopping Center off Hwy 150 at I459 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
 
Some of the festivities include:
 
FREE food at a cookout sponsored by the City of Hoover and Target.
 
FREE fingerprints for children as part of a family safety plan.
 
Displays of the Hoover Police Mobile Command Center, SWAT Team, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team, and Seized Porsche 911 Police Car.
A Helicopter from the Hoover-Jefferson County Air Support Unit.
 
Hoover Police Motorcycle riding demonstrations.
 
Hoover Fire Department Technical Rescue Unit Repelling Demonstration, Ladder Truck, Fire Prevention Smoke Trailer, Mobile Rehab Unit, Mobile Hospital, and Fire Extinguisher Demonstration
 
Crime Prevention & Drug Awareness handouts
 
Exotic Car Show (i.e. Ferrari and Lamborghini)

Officer foreman, I live on Rockview lane and my home was burglarized in broad daylight last week. I know you are only one person, but it makes me wonder what kind of real protection this neighborhood has. We have lived here 20years and had no clue this kind of thing could happen here. I have lost all faith in police protection. And of course, the neighbors saw nothing. Might as well live in Birmingham. I guess it treally is fend for yourself around here.
