On Sunday, November 24, 2013, shortly before 10:00am a man walking in a wooded area off of Elvira Road in Hoover, Alabama discovered the body of a white male. The victim was identified as James Edward Sherwood, age 46, of Calera, Alabama.
 
Hoover Police and Calera Police Detectives jointly conducted the investigation; it was discovered that the homicide occurred at a residence in Calera. The victim, Sherwood, died of a gunshot wound.
 
This case remains under investigation.
