City of Hoover a finalist for national Siemens Sustainable Community Award

The city of Hoover has been named a finalist for the third annual Siemens Sustainable Community Award, a national recognition for the city's efforts to promote a good quality of life for its residents, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced today.

Hoover is a finalist in the mid-sized city category, along with Davenport, Iowa and Grand Rapids, Mich.

Atlanta, Dallas and Philadelphia are in the running for the large community division, while Casselberry, Fla., Manhattan Beach, Calif., and Newton, Iowa, are finalists for the small community award.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Leadership Center and Siemens Corp. said the finalists were selected based on their efforts to achieve complementary economic, environmental and social goals as well as to improve the overall quality of life within their communities....................... http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2010/04/city_of_hoover_a_finalist_for.html
