15 American flags recovered from storm debris burned in Pleasant Grove

PLEASANT GROVE, Alabama -- About 15 American flags, taken from the debris following the April 27 tornadoes, were retired and burned in a ceremony this afternoon in Pleasant Grove.

Silence fell over Pleasant Grove City Park, as 20 people looked on for about 20 minutes as the flags burned.

Ceres Environmental Services, a company working to remove storm debris, has collected the flags over the last two months, said Ivan Fogarty, area manager for the company. Members of Boy Scout Troop 21 in Hoover's Bluff Park neighborhood conducted the ceremony...............
