FIREWORKS WARNING:  We are frequently asked whether or not FIREWORKS are legal in the City of Hoover.  The City has adopted the 2009 International Fire Code which prohibits the possession, manufacture, storage, sale, handling, and use of fireworks.  Professional organizations are able to have public fireworks displays after obtaining a City permit for the event.
If you are going out of the City to a location where you can legally use fireworks, please take a moment to review the safety recommendations at the link below.  Thank you and be safe.

Officer Foreman:  There is someone in Bluff Park in the long stretch of Rockview Lane/Cloudland Avenue area that evidently doesn't think this law applies to them because they shoot off fireworks every holiday (4th of July, Labor Day, New Years Eve).  Sure would appreciate a patrol in this area tonight especially since it is so dry.  It would be devastating for a fire to get started up on this mountain top!  They start firing them at dark and continue off and on till midnight for several nights in a row.

I live on Cloudland near the park and I agree someone doesn't think the law applies to them. I don't know which house it is but I think it is someone on Rockview. I would also like someone looking out in  the area tonight.

Thank you for the information.  I have forwarded your requests to the Beat Officer who is on duty tonight.  You may also call the non-emergency number to Dispatch, 444-7641, to report immediate violations of the ordinance.

Take care,

Officer Foreman
