HOOVER, Alabama - The Hoover City Council tonight took $1.37 million that had been allocated in its 2013 budget for the widening of Valleydale Road and shifted it to the Chapel Lane extension project instead.
 
The shift was done at the request of the Alabama Department of Transportation, which wanted more of Hoover's help with paying for the $5.7 million Chapel Lane extension this year, Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey said.
 
In return, ALDOT has agreed to increase its portion of the funding for the Valleydale Road widening project by $1.37 million when the time comes to do that project, Hoover officials said..........
