Monthly Message from Capt. Coker for October 2009
10/22/09 at 10:23am

I received a phone call today from Capt. Jim Coker, Hoover PD.  Capt. Coker wanted me to post a couple of items on the forum.  After some discussion, we thought it might be interesting for him to make this a regular item on the Bluff Park Forum, so here is the first installment of "Monthly Message From Capt. Coker".  Of course, these posts will be in addition to any e-mails that Hoover PD sends out.

Burglaries:

Mountain Brook, Homewood and Vestavia have seen in increase in daytime burglaries over the past couple of months.  Hoover's rate has not been as high, however Hoover has not been immune either.

Capt. Coker requests that if you see something, anything, suspicious in your neighborhood, that you contact Hoover PD (911 or 822-5300).  He indicated that Hoover PD would rather come and and find nothing, than later come out and take a burglary report.  Again, be vigilant and report ANYTHING that you find suspicious.  Remember, a nosy neighbor beats an alarm system any day.  If you would like to start a Neighborhood Watch Group on your block, please click here for instructions on how to get started.

Also, please make sure that when you leave your house, that you lock all windows and doors.  Don't make it easy for the bad guys to get in.

Halloween:

Capt. Coker wants to remind everyone that Halloween is coming up.  Please drive extra careful on Saturday, October 31, 2009.  Watch out for the kids who are trick-or-treating.  Be especially cautious at intersections and blind areas.
