Door to Door Thieves
Last week an alert homeowner contacted us when a man and woman knocked on the front door and wanted to come in. The man stated he had a free gift, a can of “Airwick” aerosol and ask the homeowner if they could step in to talk about the new business he was starting up.

They did not have any identification, no business cards nor could they give a contact phone number or address of the business. This alarmed the homeowner and the couple was not allowed in the home. The homeowner watched as the couple got back into an older white van with no markings. There were other individuals in the van as they change up teams to keep neighbors off guard.

The van went to a nearby neighbor’s home and when no one answered the front door the couple went to the back door. It is unknown what happened after that other than the good citizen called the Sheriff’s Office to report the suspicious activity.

Thieves have two plans of action:

* First Plan - If you allow this crew into your home bad things will occur. As the guy is entertaining you with talk of the business, the female will excuse herself to the restroom. She is the thief looking for jewelry, prescription drugs and any thing she can hide in her pockets.
* Second plan the thieves have is to knock on the front door and if no answer they go to the back door. If no answer there they kick in the door and enter the house to steal what they can.

Please call the Sheriff’s Office promptly if you see any suspicious activity and try to take good notes of suspects and vehicles. Your information is critical to patrol units locating the offenders. Lastly, Crime Prevention is a partnership and we need each of you to observe and report when things just don’t look right.
