Widening and sidewalks for Alford Avenue.

I was very happy with the work that was done by the city of Hoover on the western end of Alford Avenue a couple of years ago.  The rerouting of the street, the curbing, the storm drainage, and the sidewalk is wonderful for that end of the street.  Alford Avenue is a main artery into the neighborhood.  I hope that the city of Hoover is considering continuing what they started and continue the widening, curbing, storm drainage, and sidewalks all the way to the interstate I-65 (approximately 1 mile from the latest work).  The undeveloped stretch of Alford Avenue (over 1 mile) seems to be neglected by city of Hoover leaders, for some reason.  People living along the route would be talking their lives in their hands to try to walk to Mr. P's or the Piggly Wiggly.  Continuing the development of Alford Avenue would be a boost to the area and show that the city of Hoover does care for that stretch of the city.  Home values and quality of life would increase in that stretch if the city would commit to finishing what they started.  That is all.  Have a nice day.

I think that is a great idea.  That area does appear to be neglected and the work that you mention would certainly improve the neighborhood and probably increase property values.
An alternative for walking along Alford is the stretch of Shades Crest Road which parallels Alford.  Generally traffic is light and most of the time car traffic is not too fast.
I'm wondering if the city has a master plan for sidewalks in Bluff Park.  Vestavia Hills had citizen volunteers that developed an extensive network of sidewalks.  I have always thought that with the beautiful views off the mountain that a sidewalk along Shades Crest would be fantastic.
