after reading the article, wading through the comments and finger pointing, I have concluded that, for me,  the best option for continued funding would be Mr. Singer's proposal to increase property taxes. A small individual price to pay for a huge return for the School system and the City of Hoover.

After Mr. Singer made the suggestion, Councilman Gene Smith asked Mr. Singer if he thought that the residents of Hoover would approve a tax increase.  Mr. Singer answered that he thought they would.
 
Based on Mr. Singer's numbers, I see it as an overwhelming "Yes".
 
After conversations with the council and the mayor, I've come to realize what their thought process is regarding the situation, and will post it shortly.
